July 31st. Street Photography.

The other day I went to my girlfriends art show sort of thing and I found this guy who was like, an amazing photographer? Anyways, his pictures blew my mind. I ended up talking to him a little bit about his pictures and street photography, something I had never really been introduced to.

It sort of inspired me to take pictures of people I didn't know, and on top of that, without asking them. I ended up seeing a good opportunity on BART, as the guy across from me was falling asleep, but I really couldn't build up the courage to put the camera up to my face.

I ended up with a compromise, I didn't look through the viewfinder, but I did take the picture. Hopefully something came out and he definitely didn't notice me. I'd like to give this more of a shot, and I think my holga with some sorta grainy black and white film may be the way to do it. Well, maybe tomorrow I'll have to give it another go.

I'll get this photo up as soon as I can, I've decided to always get CD's with my holga rolls, so it should be relatively soon. Maybe next week.

July 30th. Lake Merritt Bart.

Sometimes when I'm coming from San Francisco, I'm way too impatient to get on the train that takes me closest to my house, so I get on the fremont one. Then...ultimately I get off at this station. Lake Merritt. Sat around for a few minutes because I thought getting a shot of someone walking into the train would be cool, but I took one as it was coming in and thought it would be even better. A bit of motion blur because of the slow shutter, but oh well, can't win em all.

July 29th. Psych Ward?

I heard about this abandoned hospital in Alameda, so I went to check it out today. Took a bunch of holga black and whites. It was really cool.

July 28th. Flowers.

Took a picture of a flower in my bathroom with the water running. Super cool!

July 27th. Family Party.

Took a few snapshots of some people at this family party I went to.

Got a shot of my friend Carmen on our shoot today. Today was our last day. :(

July 24th. The Mural Guy.

Shot another 35mm holga photo of this huge mural painted on the side of a building. It's all dutched and like, just part of this guys head. I dunno, you'll see...

July 23rd. Mia's B-Day.

Shot a few different pictures today. One was of my sister blowing out her candles, another was of this apartment across the way from mine. Then one last one of my computer mouse. I got the film developed from my trip finally and I'll probably try and make a trip to my dads friday or on the weekend to scan some of them.

July 22nd. Redscale and 35mm conversion!

Did weird weird things today. First I modified my holga to take 35mm film, so the photo goes over the sprockets. I also did this thing called redscale, where I take the film out of the canister, flip it around, and shoot through the backside of it. It gives all your photos an strange red tint.

Anyways, with that I shot a few of my friend carmen riding down the street on her bike, then a few on piedmont ave. I also shot one of Lani sitting outside my door.

I'm really trying to get back into the swing of things here. I lost it for a little while.

July 21st. Buildings.

Got a shot on my Holga of these two buildings by lake merritt. While I was doing it though, the back fell off. hopefully the pictures will be alright...

July 20th. Lawerence Hall of Science.

I took this photo today of my girlfriend sitting on this beached whale at the Lawerence Hall of Science. I've been going to this place since I was a little kid and just really began to appreciate how awesome it is.

Along with this giant beached whale, there's a long strand of DNA that you can climb on. I'm starting to think maybe this would be a good place to make a movie....Definitely gotta keep it in mind.

July 19th. Swing.

I took a picture today of a swing outside. It may have been a double exposure. Not sure.

July 18th. Carmen!

Took a picture of my friend carmen at lunch. I also sort of took it on my cell phone, so here is a picture of it. It's not very good quality wise, but that never stopped anyone, did it?

July 17th. Bicycle.

Also took a picture on my cell phone of my bike...Again, not very good quality, but I like all the lines going every which way.

July 16th. Darkness

Took a picture of my dark room. It's not very good. My camera had no batteries and I had to take a picture before it ran out.

July 15th. Lani and Mexican Blankets.

I went to the berkeley marina today for my birthday. We decided to make a kite out of a paper bag, we also attempted to use dental floss for the string. It sorta kinda worked. A little.

I just did this mainly because I have this very fond childhood memory of me and my 4th grade class going to this same place and making paper bag kites. I guess I was a lot more crafty back then, because I remember my kite flying just fine.

Oh well. I think this is one of my most epic photos to date, and on the Holga to boot. I'm quite proud of it.

July 14th. Editing.

Took a photo of the music video I've been working on forever. It's coming along pretty nicely.

July 12th. Seperation!

Oh man. Some amazing haze and seperation of a bunch of mountains out in the distance today. Some good shots at Mono lake too. Can't wait to see these.

July 11th. Moons!

I'm pretty happy about this shot I got of this mountain by the lake, little bit of moon action on it. Shot it on 35mm and the holga, so we'll see which comes out best.

July 10th. Small things.

After the intense hike up the side of the mountain, we decided to take it easy today. I think I shot a bunch of black and white of waterfalls and one of my sister with the action sampler. Good fun.

July 9th. Waterfalls and Meadows.

Hiked way up the side of this waterfall and man...it was intense. So intense that I had to whip out the black and white and get a shot of my sister mean muggin'. It's the only way to do it sometimes.

July 8th. Pacific Crest Trail. \m/

Met this guy today who was hiking the pacific crest trail, which is basically hiking from Mexico all the way to Oregon...Maybe even Canada. I'm not 100% sure on that one. We gave him some food though, as he seemed pretty awesome.

Also got one of smokey the bear on the Holga.

July 7th. Rivers and Bridges.

Got a shot of this bridge with my holga. My first day of my camping trip...

July 6th. Hippies!

Took a picture of some hippies on telegraph with some nice magic hour light. Also got a shot of a bunch of hipsters hanging outside of Blakes. Should be getting the film back on friday...

July 5th. Wooo?

Not 100% sure what I took a picture of, but I'm going to find out once I get my rolls of film back. I had written it all down, but I accidentally threw the sheet away. I just looked through the recycling for a while and I can't find it...the next week or so is going to be rough :(

July 4th. Dance Numbers!

Took an action sample of our 2nd day of shooting. We had a little dance number go down, so needless to say, that action HAD to be sampled.

July 3rd. Dizzy Balloons.

Shot a music video today. Took a few pictures of our production. Fun times...

July 2nd. Oh gosh.

I was so rushed this day that I think I ended up just taking a picture of the ceiling in my sisters room. I shot a music video the next day so I was all stressed out...The plus is that I'll have pictures of that tomorrow!

July 1st. Snow Globes!

Good one to start off July with. Shot a long exposure of a snow globe in my sisters room with my holga. Don't know if it'll come out.
